Success Works Partners provides employability skills and empowers women impacted by the criminal justice system to present themselves to an employer, who sees their skills and potential and not the record. A criminal record should never be viewed as automatic disqualification for employment. Our staff are women with lived experience of prison, but also have an extensive work history with valuable skills. We offer a series of workshops including Moving Forward with a Criminal Record, Building Resilience, Resume Assistance, Interview Support (particularly in regard to disclosing the record if required), Healthy Relationships, Communication Skills and Effective Job Search. Extensive one-on-one support is provided to the women by our staff. They are further supported by our volunteer mentors during their search for employment and up to six months post-employment. Education and further skills training may be the steps that a woman requires, and we are able to facilitate that process. A unique feature of our service is the connection we make with employers who partner with Success Works. Through these partnerships, employers agree to include women with a criminal record in their recruitment process and to consider them for employment based on their skills and experience and not their record. We advocate for our job ready graduates and can support both the employer and the woman through the recruitment process if required. We are a not-for-profit organisation, trading as a social enterprise, certified with Social Traders, changing not only the lives of women who have had contact with the criminal justice system, but that of their family, children and the community.
