Mission Statement:Our mission is to bring the world to Central Illinois. We do this by offering a variety of engaging world affairs programs and educational initiatives that provide opportunities for face-to-face learning and dialogue with global leaders, business executives, diplomats, policy experts, social innovators and distinguished opinion makers. We are a non-partisan organization and take no institutional positions on matters of policy.How We Achieve Our Mission:Our programs bring national and international experts to the Peoria area; cater to a diverse, multi-generational audience; and promote a better understanding of international history, culture and current events. We believe this enables our communities to better compete, collaborate and make informed decisions. Along with speakers and public discussion forums, we offer guided travel opportunities, book club meetings and film screenings, all designed to inform the public on a range of critical issues. These include national security, foreign policy challenges, international trade, global health, energy and the environment, immigration, human rights, education and culture.Our Values:Through expanded, informed, respectful public discourse about international relations and current events we can transform how people think about the world and encourage them to act accordingly. Our Story:We are a local chapter of a nationwide network created more than a century ago to nurture public awareness of critical international issues affecting the United States. We celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2020. Where do you get your funding?PAWAC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization sponsored primarily through member donations, which are tax-deductible. Our generous donors and members make it possible for us to provide Central Illinois with programming and other services such as educational outreach to area high schools.
