Bureau Telecommunicatie en Post (BT&P) is the semi-autonomous multi-sectoral independent supervisor and regulator, on behalf of the government of Curaçao, of the providers of services and products in the following sector-related spheres of activity:• Telecommunications• Post• Electricity• Water• Fuel• Bitumen• Airport Tariffs (passenger facility -, landing-, and parking fees)BT&P advises in an independent manner about policy (frameworks), the law and regulations and monitors the observance of the regulations oriented to high quality infrastructures, affordable prices and/or an optimum provision of services, in the abovementioned sectors. All while simultaneously maintaining transparency and efficiency among concessionaires, agents and other license holders.OBJECTIVEAdvising, supporting, stimulating and supervising in multidisciplinary sectors with the purpose of regulating the economy, legal regulation and technical regulation.Regulating the economy: • To offer the end-user affordable prices for the best quality while safeguarding the interests of the consumer and society and stimulating the economy• To strengthen the competitive position of Curaçao in the Caribbean, concentrated on each sector-related sphere of activity under BT&P supervision• To stimulate developments in the Telecom market and the market of UtilitiesLegal regulation:• To develop a legal base for all supervisory activities.Technical regulation: • To improve the quality of the network infrastructure.Additionally, by attempting to realize the above as efficiently as possible, the continued expansion of the spheres of our supervisory function as a regulator is enabled. With this we gradually get closer to fulfilling a pioneering role in the field of regulation, technology and innovation.
