Amruthavarshini is the Carnatic Music Club of NIT Trichy. But wait, we are not just any regular kacheri gumbal (concert troupe). Yes, we sure are a casual community of talented musicians - vocalists and instrumentalists alike who are trained in a Classical Music tradition. But, we have dozens of nerds, cricket freaks and eccentrics who just make the club very much a quirky family which keeps singing at the moan of a Tanpura. We at Amruthavarshini have created a community of student musicians who groom one of our country's own proud music traditions with regular meet-ups. We have weekly practice sessions where we just come together and learn songs taught by our own people. If you happen to visit NIT Trichy, keep a keen ear, for the drone will lure you to one of our rustic practice sessions. Amruthavarshini has always been an inclusive community with absolutely no restrictions on opening the gates to fresh new talents in Indian Classical Music every year in the even semester. Although we identify as a group of Carnatic music enthusiasts, our doors are unhindered to welcome musicians of other Indian classical music backgrounds as well.We at Amruthavarshini are knotted to a sole thread of ideology and culture of preserving, practicing, promoting, performing and popularising Classical Music. We successfully achieve what we envision by conducting Carnatic Music Competitions, hosting concerts and lecture-demonstrations by esteemed artists and ourselves practicing and performing at several occasions in and around college. One of the most cherished memories for all of us at Amruthavarshini is our yearly performance at Thyagaraja Aradhanai, Thiruvaiyyaru where we sing the songs in reminiscence of the great composer Thyagaraja. Amruthavarshini is that fun-filled jolly gang of people who you could jam with, on classical music, for hours together, having amazing conversations and beautiful bondings that would be a memorable chapter in your book of college life well spent!
