Incorporated in 1903, Graceland has an abundance of heritage and history. Celebrities interred here include Louis LaDauer, a Civil War soldier; a U.S. Congressman and State Court Judge, Edgar Crumpacker, who served from 1897 to 1913; and U.S. Congressman Shepard Crumpacker, Jr., who represented Indiana's 3rd District in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1951–1957. Graceland Cemetery is the only cemetery in the county with mausoleums, and features seven mausoleums with an eighth on the way. The Chapel of Peace is surrounded by the Corridor of Love, the Sanctuary of Hope and the Sanctuary of Faith. The Chapel of Peace was constructed in the early 70's as were the Sanctuary of Hope and Sanctuary of Faith. The Corridor of Love was completed in the late 1970's. Mausoleum Buildings 3, 4 and 5 were built in the 1980's and Mausoleum Building 6 finished construction in the late 1990's.
