The Chocolate Shoppe began in Madison, Wisconsin in 1962 as the Chocolate House Candy and Ice Cream store. Owners Chuck Senior and Nancy Deadman began with 19 flavours of their homemade super premium ice cream. As their ice cream gained in popularity in the Madison area, the Chocolate Shoppe explains, they began selling to local restaurants. Soon the ice cream portion became the main focus of their business . At that time, the name became Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream.Anita Shrestha, who came to the area from Nepal, are among several independent Chocolate Shoppe owners in the Midwest.
