The Hartford Guardian is an award-winning news publication conceived and launched in 2002 while Ann-Marie Adams was a business consultant. She would send out news letter to her fan club because they missed her regular articles about race and education in Greater Hartford. She would also include her writings while a teaching fellow at Quinnipiac University. The Hartford Guardian is the first hyper-local, nonprofit, and nonpartisan news publication in Connecticut that aims to build communities through civic journalism by raising the level of civic engagement in the capital city. And for almost 20 years, The Hartford Guardian has been using journalism as a tool to help eliminate racism.These are essential truths important to the publication's mission.
