Koret Israel Economic Development Funds (KIEDF) is an Israeli Amuta, created in 1994 and recognized as a leading local NGO in the field of SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) credit and Microfinance services. There are two divisions within KIEDF, the SME division which provides guarantees to bank loans to businesses; the Microfinance division which provides direct non-bank and bank guaranteed credit combined with business development services to low income populations, mainly women. SAWA, KIEDF's non-bank microfinance program, the only direct lending program of this scale and success in Israel, has reached over 6,000 low income women entrepreneurs, with over 7,500 loans totaling $18M in credit, enabling them to develop an independent income generating activity and improve their family's income.KIEDF supports SMEs, microentrepreneurs and social businesses.
