What if test prep could be...more? What if studying for the SAT, ACT, or GRE meant developing razor-sharp critical reading skills or mastering how to interpret data? What if you could leave a test preparation class with a strong understanding of how your brain learns and an arsenal of research-based study techniques that will help you study for any exam for the rest of your life? At Mind the Test, classes emphasize raising test scores not by "beating the test," but rather through a more holistic approach: understanding what the test is asking, why those skills might be important in real life, and then building those underlying skills and thought processes. Lessons are engaging, unique, and adapted to each student's needs, whether in a small group setting or in one-on-one tutoring.Mind the Test offers (to our knowledge) the only cognitive psychology-based test preparation courses in the region. The courses have a unique focus on psychology research-backed study skills, allowing students to learn more in less time. Students not only learn efficiently, using techniques derived from cognitive science (including spaced repetition, active recall, and self-testing), but they also learn enough underlying psychology and metacognition to understand why those techniques are so effective. Students take ownership of their learning process and learn to apply these research-based study skills to help them succeed in high school and college.
