Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc. (SIA) is a Greek-lettered organization devoted to serving communities around the nation while fostering a sense of pride in diverse heritages. Our 'Precious and Rare' members strive for academic excellence, female empowerment and leadership. SIA's goals are: -To constantly strive towards the expansion of awareness of the Latino and diverse cultures.-To promote sisterhood and leadership among its members.-To serve as models of excellence in education and achievement among women. The sorority was founded on September 29, 1990, by thirteen inspiring young women. During the last 29 years, SIA has continued to grow and evolve. It is now composed of 57 Undergraduate Chapters, 13 Graduate Chapters and 17 Colonies in the states of New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Texas, California, Kansas, Arkansas and South Carolina.
