Mr. Andrew Bartha and his wife Ilma started the company in 1988 after 12 years of managing other firms in the industry. The company started on a 5,000 square foot plot of shade houses in Homestead, Florida. With passion, persistence, and a strong entrepreneurial drive the Barthas surmounted the challenges of expanding their business. In a few short years the company had grown considerably. Unfortunately, in August of 1992, hurricane Andrew devastated the Miami-Dade area and completely destroyed the Silver Vase facilities.Mr. Bartha and his team saw an opportunity rather than a setback and with great deal of effort they were able not only to rebuild their greenhouses in a short time but also turn their company into one ofthe most innovative potted plant growers in North America. The state-of-the-art facility experienced a tremendous growth, increasing yearly production from 400,000 units in 1997 nearly 2 million units in 2004.Today the fully robotized and environmentally friendly greenhouse operation extends to nearly 1 million square feet across several locations in United States and Canada. The company started operating its own distribution trucks in 2004, serving both the retail and wholesale sides of the green industry.
