Leadership Training on Employee Grief | Change Management | Impact of Grief | Keynote Speaker at GriefLeaders LLC - , , United States
"...The business schools don't teach anything about what the manager says when someone says, 'I have cancer,'..." - James Autry, business leader and authorOur company, GriefLeaders, and our book, THE DYING ART OF LEADERSHIP, came from ideas that started percolating between my brother, Guy, and I after reading an article about grieving employees returning to work in early 2017.As a result of our personal experiences and given our decades of leadership, management, and death care industry experience, the article piqued our interest. While a good first step, the articles missed an important link. Any emotionally traumatic event significant enough to alter a person's sense of reality will cause them to grieve. Divorce, significant illness diagnosis, a company's change initiatives will all trigger the emotions of grief. As we interviewed people for our book, we realized that no one has tackled this topic from the dual standpoints of lost productivity and how leaders should support grieving or emotionally traumatized employees while at work. The project blossomed into a passion to help companies navigate the emotional component of change in their employee's lives.GriefLeaders is a training and consulting organization with the sole purpose of educating leaders on how to help grieving / emotionally traumatized employees excel at work, thus reducing the impact of grief on productivity, estimated in studies at a staggering $75-$100 billion annually (The Grief Recovery Institute, 2003).We offer a variety of training methods to ensure we can accommodate any organization and learning culture.I am also an experienced and requested keynote speaker at leadership forums and company retreats. We believe by teaching leaders about grief and how to lead grieving employees, we can fulfill our purpose of helping companies minimize the impact of grief in the workplace.Specialties: Grief leadership for employees, Keynote speaking, Impact of Grief on Companies
