Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Limited (RNAIPL) is the first dedicated Alliance global plant representing an investment of INR 61 billion in Chennai. Spread over 610 acres, it is the largest Alliance plant globally. It was set up in a record time of 21 months since the ground breaking ceremony in February 2008 and started operations in March 2010. In the last 8 years RNAIPL has delivered more than 18 lakh cars.RNAIPL meets the domestic vehicle demands for Renault, Nissan and Datsun in India, and it has also grown as a major export hub tapping into car markets across 106 countries. The plant is a showcase of India's manufacturing and engineering capabilities with a right balance of quality and cost. RNAIPL has full Stamping, Body, Paint, Plastic, Trim and Chassis shops and is equipped with three test tracks. It has an installed production capacity of 480,000 vehicles per year. The plant also manufactures engines and gearboxes for domestic and export market at its Powertrain plants. RNAIPL employees more than 8000 people and produces 10 car variants for Nissan, Datsun and Renault brands on its two production lines. RNAIPL has adopted the industry-leading Monozukuri production process called Alliance Production Way.
