Approximately 30% of fresh fruits and vegetables are lost before coming to the stall. Economic impact of mentioned losses is beyond 1.3 Billion $ annually. In traditional preservation, very harmful chemicals and their synthetic derivatives are used for protection; however, their usage is limited because of their negative effects to the human. Amounts allowed for usage are not sufficient for the long-term protection.
