Genvironment is a youth-led sustainability consulting non profit organization based in Canada. Our mandate, is to respond to youths' concerns on global issues by providing them with education, training, resources, mentorship and skills to contribute to a more sustainable world.Genvironment believes:-that youth have the capacity to change our footprint-in helping youth understand the issues they are passionate about-that youth need to develop transferable knowledge-that the world needs youth to cultivate empathy for vulnerable groups-that youth need to critically analyze global issues through various perspectivesHow do we do it?-Giving youth a platform to contribute to sustainability solutions-Inquiry-driven learning-Curriculum built using Understanding by Design framework-Scaffolding Design Thinking-Authentic project-based learning-Inclusive and differentiated using multiple intelligence theory-21st Century Learning through consultationOur programs include:1) Sports & Sustainability Team Huddle: Youth sports teams huddle up and work together as a team to take action on a sustainability issue that they are passionate about in their community.2) DREAMer Program Think Tank is for Designers, Revolutionaries, Experimenters & Engineers, Artists & Makers3) Science & Global Goals Lab: Youth investigate and explore the UN Global Goals in an inquiry-based hands-on science lab.4) The Neighbourwood: Offers younger children the opportunity to explore nature in their own backyards through discovery, play, and hands-on learning developing a lifelong connection with the Earth and their community.5) Youth Sustainability Commission: Paid work-based learning for youth to become equipped to address local and global issues that they are passionate about while enhancing the talent pipeline of future leaders.All programs use the engineering design cycle to create innovative projects to address sustainability issues students are passionate about.
