The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation is the Nation's oldest and largest provider of need-based scholarships to military children. The Scholarship Foundation provides funding for post-high school education to all qualified children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen in need. Scholarship recipients are children of honorably discharged, retired, and active-duty Marines, and particular attention is given to those whose parent has been wounded or killed in action. Since its inception in 1962, the Scholarship Foundation has awarded more than 40,000 scholarships, worth upwards of $125,000,000, to the children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen. In the current academic year, the Scholarship Foundation awarded $7,700,000 to 2,300 children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen.
