Sustainable development is about creating a better quality of life for everyone, now and in the future. The London Sustainable Development Commission (LSDC) works with the Mayor of London and others in the capital to help make this happen. Established in 2002, the LSDC promotes sustainable development in the capital and provides independent advice on the sustainability of London-wide strategies, including those produced by the Greater London Authority (GLA).The LSDC is made up of individual experts from the economic, social, environmental and London governance sectors, who give their time voluntarily. The LSDC is supported in its work by a small secretariat provided by the GLA. Current work includes:- Cleantech and Innovation: exploring how to speed the growth of London's low-carbon goods and services sector - Quality of Life Indicators: used to gauge progress on sustainable development in London- Green Finance: exploring ways to finance the transition to a zero carbon, sustainable London
