TakeMyHand is an independent Danish charitable organization, which consists of young students from different cultures and backgrounds. Our aim is to provide humanitarian- and emergency aid to people worldwide, who are facing hardship caused by natural disasters and poverty. It all started back in October 2011, where an earthquake hit Van, Turkey, causing approximately 1000 deaths. This dreadful incident resulted in the birth of TakeMyHand one month later. The idea behind TakeMyHand was to gather young enthusiastic people, who had a passion for helping out other human beings. We all had a mutual vision that we as ordinary people could make a difference as well, if we put together out resources and networks. With the birth of our organization came along our first charity project, with the aim to provide humanitarian aid for the people of Van. After one month of sweat and tears, we managed to collect 101.000 Danish Kroner through online fundraising and a charity dinner. This stunning amount motivated us in to keep going and work hard.TakeMyHand has been existing for nearly two years and throughout this period we has successfully managed to collect about a quarter of a million Danish Kroner. This amazing amount was obtained through charity projects like online fundraising, charity dinners and a street soccer event. Each with different aims like helping the victims of the typhoon in the Philippines, helping poor families in the Gaza Strip, helping Afghan children who are working on the streets into getting to school etc. These results confirmed our vision that together we can make a difference, and this fact helps motivate us in to keep going and work harder. We believe that if we reach out our hands, we are able to help out each other.
