Founded by Dr. Wil Lou Gray in 1921, the Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School specializes in providing "at- risk" adolescents, ranging from ages 16- 19, with an alternative high school education, supplemented with vocational training. The school provides services in a structured residential, quasi- military environment to prepare and assist in the achievement of independence and employ-ability. The agencies philosophy has focused on assisting those students who, for various reasons, could not benefit from the regular educational system. "Why stop learning?" is the true essence of the Opportunity School and the very reason why it is the most unique alternative educational institution in the State of South Carolina.
