Community Engagement Exchange Program Specialist at Baithak - Challenging Taboos - Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan
Baithak is a non-profit organization that works for women's access to their sexual and reproductive, health, rights and justice through education, awareness, and advocacy.Key Thematic Areas:- Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM)- Gender Based Violence Advocacy and Support.- SRHR (Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights) Advocacy.Impact: - Educated 2300 girls and women about Menstrual Hygiene Management and provided them menstrual hygiene kits- Organized Pakistan's first ever Mesntruathon (Menstrual Hygiene Management Marathon) that educated 1000+ women in Menstrual Hygiene Management in 8 cities in Sindh (including Khipro, Dadu, Manjhand, Jhangara, Kotri, Sujjawal) in 8 days. - Educated 1400 women about Family Planning (FP) and provided them access to FP services and tools. - Provided menstrual hygiene kits to 450 women in low-income communities who lost access to menstrual products during the pandemic- Supported 80 Domestic Violence survivors in two shelter houses in Hyderabad and 20 Domestic Violence survivors with income generation activities. - Trained 150 young activists and community leaders in Domestic Violence Advocacy and SRHR Advocacy. - Trained 120 LHWs and CMWs in Menstrual Hygiene Management, GBV and SRHR- Curated virtual safe spaces called Gender Dialogues under Community Development Initiative Grant (by IREX) for people from all genders to reflect, learn, and build their capacity to work for GBV prevention and elimination.
