AVES is an independent academic publisher founded with the purpose of providing publication services and products within the scope of international scientific publication standards. The company is based in İstanbul, Turkey and it has no other offices elsewhere. AVES's basic mission is to publish original journals primarily in Turkey within the scope of internationally accepted guides and standards and to contribute to the scientific literature. AVES aims to expand its operations to Eastern Europe and Asia in the near future and to start publishing scholarly journals in disciplines other than health sciences. AVES currently provides professional publication services to over 35 medical journals which are owned by specialists' societies, medical faculties and training hospitals. AVES journals are open access publications. They are owned and financially supported by non-profit organizations. No fees are requested from authors to submit or to publish their manuscripts. Printed copies of AVES journals are distributed among the members of each journal's owner organization. Some of the organizations may request a subscription fee to distribute printed copies to non-members. Guides and recommendations of international organizations such as International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), Council of Science Editors (CSE), European Association of Science Editors (EASE) and Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) are taken into consideration in the publication processes of AVES journals. The content and the content's scientific quality of AVES journals are the responsibility of each journal's Editor in Chief and the Editorial Board.
