Inspira was founded by Ignacio Luque-Heredia in 1995, and became a specialist in Concentrator Photovoltaics (CPV), participating in the most important European initiatives in this field. The company designed and marketed pedestal trackers to mount CPV modules. It developed the specific procedures to design trackers for CPV stringent specifications, and its productions were used by many of today's major CPV players. Its proprietary tracking control technology, based on that used by astronomical observatories, proved unprecedented accuracies, necessary to increase CPV output and thus decrease costs. In 2007 it was acquired by the Silicon Valley leading HCPV manufacturer Solfocus Inc.
