ETHO is a network of technical staff in higher education institutions in arts, design and architecture. Established in 2016, ETHO aims to advance hands on learning and innovation in all artistic disciplines through an inclusive community. ELIA and ETHO shares the aim to empower higher arts education and facilitate the exchange of good practices.ETHO holds two annual events: one, enabling technical staff to share knowledge across the network; and the second aimed at technical leaders focused on the strategic development of technical services.Some of the areas of focus:Didactics of makingTechnical OperationalNetworking and communicationsDigital ToolsSustainable DevelopmentThe most recent and very successful event in Helsinki had 137 participants from across Europe and the UK. ETHO is coordinated by a core planning team of five Heads of Technical from the RCA, Aalto, ZHdK, KABK, WDK and St. Joost Academy. Each event theme is identified and negotiated with the host venue and members contribute by supporting the planning and delivery of the event. The events include keynotes, seminars, workshops, tours of technical facilities and support for peer networking.
