High Wycombe Tuneless Choir Leader & Manager at Tuneless Choir - Nottingham, England, United Kingdom
Time and time again, singing has been proven to be just great for people's well-being - physically, emotionally and socially. As a society we sing much less than we used to, as curricula are squeezed and church-going falls. Entertainment shows tell us it's something to excel at rather than participate in, and this particularly hits those with (let's say) not so good voices.Tuneless Choirs give those who can't sing in tune a place they can go to "sing like no one is listening". Great songs are sung badly. There's no tuition just a lot of laughter. Endorphins flow. People describe it as liberating, and tell how just being able to sing has helped them find confidence and literally "a voice". Our groups become diverse, wonderful communities, in which everyone is there to relax and have fun. They are a little bit of joy in a busy and stressful world. A respite. We operate Tuneless Choirs under a mini franchise model. For a tiny upfront cost, and ongoing percentage of sales, approved suppliers can set up and run a choir in a specified territory, using our brand and philosophy. All choirs are lead by someone who is musical - they may be the franchisee. Sometimes a tuneless person wants to set up the choir so they take out the franchise and bring in a leader as franchisee. There are currently 20 Tuneless Choirs in the UK, with more in the pipeline. Please see our website for details. And whatever your ability, please find a place to sing with other people.
