Birmingham City Schools is located in the heart of the Birmingham, Alabama metropolitan area in the center of a large, diverse and culturally vibrant community filled with a long, rich history. Led by Superintendent Dr. Lisa Herring, our system is comprised of more than 40 schools serving 99 neighborhoods located within the city where the education of over 20,000 students is our top priority. The Birmingham Board of Education approved the district's five-year strategic plan, Force For Greatness 2018-2023, which is our roadmap for the future. It is comprised of four pillars: Student Success, Team Excellence, Stakeholder Trust, and Effective Systems and Planning. We are building leaders and impacting the world.
