American Society of Pharmacovigilance is a national biomedical and healthcare network with membership open to all healthcare professionals. Pharmacovigilance is the pharmacological science relating to the collection, detection, assessment, monitoring, and prevention of adverse drug events with pharmaceutical products. Adverse drug events annually account for 1 million emergency department visits, 2.2 million hospital admissions, 3.5 million physician office visits and $136 billion U.S. health care costs. Our mission is to rapidly and dramatically reduce the high rate of suffering and mortality due to adverse drug events in the U.S. We represent the unity of different areas of expertise coming together to have a bigger impact on addressing the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S. For more information, or to join our mission, please visit www.stopADR.org
