Kids Cooking For Life (KCL) is a nonprofit organization that teaches nutrition and inspires lifelong healthy cooking and eating habits through hands-on cooking classes. Typically, classes are held in person but with COVID-19 in effect, we are abiding by the safety guidelines and moving online to Zoom! Our new interactive home learning program will be 4 weeks long and taught by our very own KCL experienced teachers who will guide our junior chefs through recipe reading, measuring, chopping, and mixing which will allow them to create a delicious and healthy meal. Our students include those from low income communities and those with special needs in the San Rafael and Oakland school districts. Effects of poor eating habits include heart disease, early onset of type 2 diabetes, and different types of cancers which are all rising at an alarming rate among children today. Our mission is to instill and help younger generations to understand proper diet and nutrition as a way to help fight the childhood obesity epidemic!
