Over 2.2 million Americans are incarcerated today. Upon their release from prison, formerly incarcerated people often face social stigma and employment barriers that prevent them from attaining a job. Research has shown that without meaningful employment opportunities, many of these men and women will return to prison in as little as 3 years. To help break the socially and financially destructive cycle of recidivism (the tendency of a formerly incarcerated individual to re-offend), The Redemption Project empowers incarcerated people through virtue-based education while partnering with employers to provide these individuals with mentoring opportunities while in prison and meaningful employment upon release. We believe that bringing an end to recidivism begins with a good job and having the character and integrity to keep it!
