Eldest of the family, while alive, Mr. Assad Hassouneh started a small trading company in the 1960's for steel and building materials in Palestine. The son, Eng. Yacoub Hassouneh, being aware of the strategic significance of national steel industry for the Palestinian economy and being devoted to his roots, has successfully expanded to initiate various production facilities of steel products alongside the trading activities, introducing steel production and manufacturing in Palestine for the first time.\Under the supervision of Eng. Yacoub Hassouneh the group has successfully built various plants to become a real steel producer. Such as, Deformed Steel Bars Cut & Bend, Nail and Barbed Wires, Galvanized Wire, Mesh Welding, Rolling Mill, Steel Scrap Yards, and an Electric Arc Furnace Melt Shop.
