Alice Springs School of the Air Visitor Centre introduces visitors to our 1.3 million square kilometre classroom.We are a must see Central Australian attraction for both the International and Domestic tourist.Alice Springs School of the Air is also the primary fund raiser for this very unique school which commenced operation in Alice Springs in 1951.Over the years the School of the Air has evolved from school over the airways via the Royal Flying Doctors radio to a cutting edge virtual classroom which uses IDL technology.Our guides provide visitors with a insight not only into this unique form of education for remote children but also into life in this remote region.Our gift shop has a range of gifts and souvenirs along with some local indigenous art products, books and T shirts.
