GRE HERC Services (HERC) is a subsidiary of Great River Energy. We operate the Hennepin Energy Recovery Center for Hennepin County.HERC helps the county manage waste by burning garbage to create energy – renewable energy for the electric grid and steam for nearby buildings. The waste-to-energy facility processes 1,000 tons of trash each day. In addition, HERC uses the latest technologies and controls to limit its environmental impact.
