CEO and Founder at Cardboard Box Ministries - Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, United States
How Cardboard Box Ministries Got StartedIn the year 2000, Bobby Hayden Jr. found himself living in a cardboard box at the corner of 31st and Broadway in downtown Los Angeles, California. After giving his life to Christ and 4 years of sobriety, the talk of Bobby starting a ministry came to the forefront. One day Bobby and his sister were chatting about what that ministry might look like, and both were marveling that it truly did start in a cardboard box. They looked at each other and knew immediately that a simple kraft box, temporal, but constitutive, providing shelter and protection until the hour of one's redemption, was not only the perfect name for the ministry, but the only name.Bobby has always known that his story would be wrapped around music, but he also knew there would be something more. When he became of sound mind, "something more" became more clearly defined–a God given destiny to give hope to the broken just as Jesus did for him, through music, prayer, and example. The Lord blessed Bobby with talent, the ways of the world were all too consuming, and the Lord took back what Satan meant for harm. Now Bobby travels the country with Cardboard Box Ministries, spreading the word of Jesus through his testament of faith and music. As Bobby says, "I am an evangelist first, a musician second."
