Chairman, HELP Foundation & Visiting Prof in an Engineering College
HELP (Human Empowerment & Livelihood Promotion) Foundation is a secular Social Service Organization founded in 2010 by a group of professionals. HELP focuses on a bringing a holistic view of the Environment around a community, seeing it as an overall eco system. Built on a strong backbone of research, HELP gets into transformational initiatives in all aspects of the Environment. The focus of HELP Foundation is Restoration of the Wetlands Ecosystem. This makes it look through two perspectives. HELP sees Environment from the perspective of a subject that needs Sustainable Nurture and Care. In its activities, HELP strives to protect the ecosystem around wetlands, so that the water body can be conserved, which will eventually lead to the restoration of the ecosystem around it. The water body is thereby nursed back to health and is sustained for future generations. This translates into various activities like Lake Conservation, Prevention of river banks from erosion etc. HELP got into the Nurture and Care aspect through its Mangrove Afforestation work. HELP Foundation has been relentlessly working in the last 7 years in this field of wetland restoration and eco system regeneration, primarily focused on the Paravur lake. The methodology has been largely manual at the grassroot levels, including advocacy, activism and other means not only to create awareness among the local population, but to also get partnership from the governance bodies at a local, district and state level, to ward away unwanted elements who are deliberately destroying the eco system purely for selfish, wealth accumulation goals. Secondly, HELP also looks at the problem from a perspective of Heal & Restore, where victims of environmental and ecosystem degradation (primarily in the form of ground water contamination) are taken care of, by providing the right healing care to people suffering from Kidney diseases and Cancer.
