Newark Day Nursery and Children's Center was founded in 1961 serving only 5 children, and has grown to a center serving 180 children daily. It began from the vision of several citizen-activists who saw an unmet need of working families for both high quality and affordable child care. Through milestones such as acceptance as a United Way of Delaware agency, achieving the first of several national accreditations, and acquiring a 5 acre facility for expansion, their vision has led to thousands of children being served. Our mission still reflects our original vision: We are edicated to providing the highest quality early childhood and school age services to educate, enrich, and inspire children and youth from culturally and economically diverse families.
