Health One Credit Union (NCUA Insurance Certificate #: 63106) was founded in late April 1956. A group of 25 employees solicited Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan. At that time, both companies were independent of each other. As the credit union move was increasing, this group of employees solicited their employers to sponsor a cooperative credit union where its members, through their deposits, would assist other members. March 24, 1996, in an effort to meet additional membership needs, Health One Credit Union created First Mortgage Corporation. Through the creation of the wholly owned subsidiary, Health One Credit Union was now able to arrange for mortgage financing on a larger scale. Through established wholesale channels, the Credit Union Membership and its referrals could now apply for and secure mortgage financing based on the current markets. First Mortgage Corporation is 100% Owned by the Members of Health One Credit Union, and reports directly to the Health One Credit Union Board of Directors.On August 16, 2009, Health One Credit Union was approved for community credit union status by the State of Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation, allowing for further expansion in field of membership.
