Pearl Producers Association (PPA) represents the Australian South Sea Pearl Industry. For over 150 years the Australian South Sea Pearl Industry has been providing superior quality pearls from sustainably harvested Pinctada maxima pearl oysters. Australian Pearl Producers are unique in that they continue to harvest by hand wild pearl oysters for the culture of pearls from the world's last commercial P. maxima oyster fishery, which is located at pristine Eighty Mile Beach, in the Browse-Kimberley region of Western Australia.Over the past 25 years, since its establishment, the PPA has been promoting the economic, social and environmental importance of the Australian pearling industry to key decision makers and the wider community; formulating responses to issues that affect its members, and assisting with the provision of strategic direction in support of Australian South Sea Pearl Producers.
