Ever-drawn to the structures of Frank Lloyd Wright, the team at Salcedo Custom Homes shares his philosophy of organic architecture, where the homes are in harmony with their environment. "The natural beauty of all elements of a home are truly inspiring," says president Brian Salcedo, who runs the company with wife and vice president, Sarah Salcedo. "We love big windows for natural light, timeless marbles and stones, and real-wood features stained with a clear coat to show off their grain." Brian and Sarah met while working for a home builder in 2001, soon realizing they shared a passion for the industry and a desire to own a high-end residential design-build company. In 2005 came their first home flip, followed by many others, which eventually led to their foray into custom homes. "While that time was difficult, we learned many new skills, built vital relationships and focused on our core values," says Sarah, speaking of their 12 years of success. "Our patience and persistence paid off and we are now building the homes of our dreams." When it comes to inspiration, the Salcedos look to commercial buildings, especially those in Boston, New York and Chicago, as well as architecture from around the world. Not held to any one style, they prefer being recognized for flexibility in design and having the foresight to see the potential that others don't. Currently working on a custom home in Oak Point, TX that others passed on because they simply couldn't see the vision for it, the Salcedos welcomed the challenge, saying "it has become one of our most beautiful homes to date, in layout and accentuated lake views." With their four children growing up on job sites and being involved in the company, the Salcedos are gearing up for the next generation of home-building success.
