I also look to the classical handcraft of Chinese and Japanese joinery and the directness of the American Shaker and Amish designs. Finding strengths through combining weakness sculpting something delicate of lasting beauty. I look for a single idea to express clearly through the communication of the parts, like different instruments create a single piece of music.
