We are a group of engineering students representing the University of Sheffield in the internationally acclaimed Formula Student competition, which is run by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers every year.Backed by industry and high profile engineers such as our Patron Ross Brawn OBE, the competition aims to inspire and develop enterprising and innovative young engineers. Universities from across the globe are challenged to design and build a single-seat racing car in order to compete in static and dynamic events, which demonstrate their understanding and test the performance of the vehicle. http://www.imeche.org/events/formula-studentThe team consists of students from across the engineering faculty, but generally from the faculty of mechanical engineering. As part of the project the students will learn valuable skills such as teamwork, networking, machining, design and business and financial planning. It also provides them with an exceptionally good way of demonstrating students' engineering ability. After its ninth year of competition, Sheffield Formula Racing is currently the 2nd best team in the UK, finishing 5th overall at Silverstone in July 2018, plus winning an award for the most efficient IC car.
