Scholar in Disability Program/ Patient Care Associate at Ohio At Home Healthcare Agency - Columbus, OH, US
Ohio At Home works with children and adults who have an intellectual or developmental disability, and who need support to reach their full life potential. Our team of care professionals specialize in providing quality, person-centered care as we create meaningful partnerships with each client's families, teachers, employers, medical teams, and all other functioning components of their support network. The creation and maintenance of significant personal relationships is central to the philosophy behind our care delivery and guides all that we do. Since 2015 we have had a great focus on utilizing assistive technology to advance the independence of our clients and bridge the gap between the powerful functionalities of technological innovations and the central tenants of personal, goal-oriented care. This journey began when we started exploring unique solutions to common problems faced by our first client as she navigated her environment in a wheelchair with limited dexterity. However, this idea began to pick up steam when we realized the broad applicability of and need for modern technologies to solve many of the persistent issues faced by the developmentally disabled community. In 2018, the value of our efforts was recognized when Governor John Kasich signed the groundbreaking Technology First executive order, which encouraged Service and Support Administrators to consider the ability of technology to provide members of the ID/DD community with more independence and safety, and to increase the utilization of these technologies. Ohio At Home's founder and CEO can be seen below at the signing of the Technology First legislation speaking on the benefits of our solutions that were jointly developed with our sister company Medforall, an assistive technology engineering firm that leads the industry in assistive technology innovation.
