OSF IPMR is a nonprofit organization with deep roots in the community going back over 60 years, formerly IPMR. IPMR opened its doors in 1950 with the goal of improving function and quality of life for injured World War II veterans and victims of polio in conjunction with Caterpillar's Return-to-Work Program.The prestigious "Peoria Plan" became the model for rehabilitation centers across the United States whose early visionaries were Dr. Harold Vonachen of Caterpillar, Bill Rutherford and Dr. Robert Hart. Though initially endowed by the Forest Park Foundation, today IPMR reaps the benefits of Peoria's tradition of philanthropy through donors who give to numerous client-care programs providing rehabilitation and treatment services.
