Carol supports people to Moveon from difficult life experiences. Our sense of self and how we fit in the world can be shaped by distressing life events such as accidents, illness and health crisis, bereavement of a loved one and being bullied. These challenges can negatively affect us for the rest of our life if we are unable to process and release the emotions. PTSD, anxiety, depression low self esteem are symptoms of distress from the result of past life experiences. Compulsion, addictions and personality changes manifest as a way of coping with the distressing feelings which are in our subconscious mind. It's not that the person is refusing to let go of the past, but the past is refusing to let go of the person. The memory of past events are held in every cell, the body holds onto the initial fear, pain and bewilderment. It doesn't go away until you release it. People may consciously think "its over" or be told to "just get over it" but they never get back to the way they used to be and despite working hard on their recovery they find that their sense of self has changed, they become edgy, nervous, anxious, aggressive or teary. Your unconscious mind holds all references and knowledge of the past events, and keeps you in a state of hyper-vigilance, it's trying to keep you safe as it's on look out for danger as it believes the danger is still present, in the unconscious mind it's like it's happening now.The key to resolving the intensity of the harmful recurring emotions, is to assist the person's body/memory to know that the event is over. This enables the whole system to return to calm. I use a hypnotherapy approach that is empowering and allows the trauma to be released from where it's stored – in the subconscious mind and in the body safely.
