The Global Autoimmune Institute (GAI) is a growing nonprofit in autoimmune disease education and research. GAI is committed to improving the way these "hidden diseases" are diagnosed, treated, and managed, while supporting multidisciplinary approaches to wellness. We empower patients through community support and resources, fund critical scientific investigations, and create collaborative partnerships to educate and raise awareness in science and medicine. Our Autoimmune Aware Support Group - based in San Diego, CA and currently meeting online - provides personal connection and a safe space for those suffering from chronic conditions. Our website - autoimmuneinstitute.org - houses resources for those with autoimmune disease and chronic illness. We produce informative and thoughtful articles, highlighting discoveries in autoimmune disease research and related topics in nutrition, therapies, the human microbiome, specific autoimmune disorders, and environmental health. In partnership with the Celiac Disease Program at Children's National Hospital (CNH) in Washington, D.C., we provide educational resources, including a podcast, app, and expert talks on celiac and gluten-free living on our website. Our collaboration with the Celiac Program at CNH has developed the Multidisciplinary Celiac Disease Clinic, which offers the most comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to diagnosing and treating celiac disease. This approach serves as a national standard of the highest care for celiac disease patients.
