The Pawleys Island Concert Band is an all-volunteer, adult community band serving the Waccamaw neck and Georgetown (South Carolina, USA). We perform several free concerts each year and provide an array of traditional concert band music from big band, marches, jazz, and show tunes to light classical selections. Members are area residents of all ages who desire to contribute their skills and dedication to our community to promote musicianship, present high-quality enjoyable music, and to encourage young people to enjoy the lifelong excitement of the musical arts.Our musicians are area residents of all ages and walks of life. We strongly encourage local woodwind, brass or percussion musicians of at least high school level experience (no matter how long ago that was) to share our enjoyment and contribute to the community. Members come from not only Pawleys Island and Litchfield but also Murrells Inlet, Myrtle Beach, Georgetown, Conway, and all areas of Horry and Georgetown Counties. Like many community bands, there is a wide range of age and experience among the membership ranging from 16 to 86; some who hadn't played in 40 years along with several professionals, active amateur musicians, and retired band directors.
