The role of the Johannesburg Inner City Partnership (JICP) is to facilitate growth and transformation for all Inner City stakeholders through collaboration between City of Johannesburg (COJ), other spheres of government and the private sector.The desired outcome of the partnership is accelerated, inclusive, shared and sustainable growth. In pursuing its mandate, the JICP works with individual and corporate citizens and groups within the community to find sustainable ways to meet their social, economic and material needs in order to improve the quality of lives of all the stakeholders as well as to make the Inner City a more attractive tourist, trade and investment destination.The overriding aim of the JICP is to meet the outputs of COJ Growth and Development Strategy in the Inner City of Johannesburg, namely, to ensure there is increased job creation, skills transfer, youth and small business development, business retention and attraction, resource resilience and liveable, safe community development. An additional aim of the JICP is to support the vision of the City of Joburg through the delivery of the approved Inner City Road Map (ICRM)The JICP membership includes but is not limited to representatives of the following organisations;Johannesburg Business Forum (JBF) and ChambersProperty Owners and Managers Association (POMA)Community-based organisations, with representation from a range of NGO's, CBO's, faith-based organisations and resident organisationsInstitutions of Learning(including but not limited to schools, universities, colleges)Street Traders/ Micro RetailersYouth-based organisationsForeign national communitiesTaxi associationsInner city tourism representativesOthers and individuals not represented in formally constituted groupsIn addition, interest groups will be defined at geographic levels for those campaigns or planning and implementation initiatives that are localised.
