The PNET Cancer Foundation Inc has been established to support the fight against this rare form of brain and central nervous system cancer, which is usually found in young children and adolescents.Kieran Stark was a state champion cross-country runner and rower. At age 18, during his final year at high school in 2006 he was struck down by Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumor (PNET) brain cancer. Over the next 2 years, whilst studying at university and coaching rowing for elite female rowers, Kieran had multiple surgeries, periods of daily radiotherapy and 4 months of intense chemotherapy. Tragically, Kieran lost his battle with PNET cancer, passing away in 2008, 2 days before his 21st birthday.PNET Cancer and its treatments are gruelling. Kieran's story illustrates the urgent need for further research into diagnosis, treatment and cure. Without this research, more young children and adolescents will suffer, and we will lose further young people who have so much to offer the world.The next wave of PNET cancer research will be aimed at studying genetic issues, in the hope of unlocking the remaining mysteries surrounding brain and spinal cancer, hopefully leading to better prognoses for PNET and all central nervous system cancers.All donations to the PNET Cancer Foundation Inc ABN 82 798 045 409 are tax deductible
