Serionix creates high-performance air filters based on a proprietary adsorptive coating technology called Colorfil™, which changes colors as it removes toxic chemicals and odors from the air. Through this intuitive, vibrant color change, Colorfil™ lets users know when the filters are working and when they need to be replaced. Colorfil™ is also capable of removing pet odors, specifically the smell coming from cat urine.​Serionix originated at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2011 through coordinated efforts by Professor James Economy, Dr. James Langer, and Dr. Weihua Zheng.
