BLAD is an independent plant magazine and artist collective founded in 2014 by Liv C. H. Laursen and Louise Jacobsen. Liv and Louise both have a background in graphic design and art direction and have been creating creative projects together since childhood. The collective was built on a mutual fascination with plants and nature. We observe plants beyond their biological form and function by including poetic and sculptural elements to our work. With the magazine and our work, we want to challenge the general way people see, interact, and read about plants. Alongside releasing eight magazines, BLAD also design and produce limited edition artwork, products, facilitate workshops, talks, and events. Our creative focus is aimed at uncovering beauty in different cultures, small places, and unexpected things using quirky, colourful, and minimal aesthetic. The magazine, BLAD, is an biannual magazine on house plants, green fingers and urban plant life. The issues are bilingual, presenting every article in the original Danish and an English translation, preserving the Nordic tone of voice, while reaching out into the world. The magazine is sold in over 20 countries around the world and has been featured in both national and international publications and online magazines/blogs including: Wallpaper, Elle Decoration Denmark, Oak Journal, The Spaces, Politiken, ALT interiør, The Contrarian and many more.
