The Broward Center for the Performing Arts overlooks the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale, The Center brings Broadway musicals, operas, ballets, concerts, plays, multi-cultural performances, films, lectures and numerous community workshops and educational events to South Florida while also creating unique and successful collaborations with partners in the arts, community, government and business. The vision to create a cultural centerpiece came to life at the Broward Center in the form of a grand, multi-venue arts and entertainment complex. The complex opened in 1991 and soon became the anchor of the downtown arts district.The Center's mission includes a strong focus on integrating the arts into education.
