The initial focus of JCL was to look after the needs of Local Optical Committees. This has now expanded to work for Primary Eyecare companies, individual optometry practices, private eye clinics, and other optical and non-optical businesses. The range of work covered for LOCs has expanded over timeWhilst we are perfectly set up for managing all the day to day administration, communication, CET administration and business requirements of LOCs, we have also been heavily involved in setting up enhanced services throughout the country from writing business cases, negotiation with PCTs and CCGs, running accreditation, managing ongoing schemes through participation in steering/audit groups and management of ongoing accreditation requirements.In recent times this has involved procurement through the LOC company model. We are currently dealing with administrative and operational aspects of companies set up in Cornwall, Croydon, East London, Somerset, South East London and Kent.We currently work with 8 LOCs in total from offices in London and Yeovil with staff experienced in dealing with LOCs and the NHS.EXAMPLES OF WORK:Lambeth, Southwark, and Lewisham: involved in set up and ongoing management of the Minor Eye Conditions scheme in Lambeth and Lewisham as well as re-launch of glaucoma repeat measures scheme and negotiation and set up of cataract referral refinement. This is now being run across the whole of South East London by Primary Ophthalmic Solutions under our management and with the provision of a single point of access triage service run on e-RS. The service sees over 25,000 patients per year.Croydon: Project management of successful bid for the Community Ophthalmology Tender via Complete Ophthalmic Services CIC. The service is now part of an integrated ophthalmology services under Moorfields. JCL also operate Specialised Ophthalmic Services which provides acute eyecare and dry eye equipment for optometrists.
